Bucket List: Update Yo!!

Hey all,

as you should know I have a real broken ass leg. If you didn't, then actually read my blog :)

--==LEG/LIFE==--

My leg is healing damn fast and I think I’ll be at school on a walking stick instead of crutches in the near, very near future.
The weirdest thing is that the only time it hurts is in the morning. And the only thing that hurts in the morning is one of the screws in my knee. Bloody weird.

--==BUCKET LIST==--

Anyhoo, because my leg is on the fritz, it looks like it will be a while yet before i complete some of my Bucket List.
BUT

In two weeks time I am going back to Europe for a vacation with the family.
And in that time, I will complete two more things on my Bucket List..
Attending the Oktoberfest in Germany.
And
Visit Amsterdam.

I am looking forward to both of these and I will surely post about them.

--==SOMETHING FOR THE READERS==--

I just wanna ask you guys something because I wanna be mates with yall so Uno... this is a way of getting to know you?
That’s my excuse anyway...

POINT IS, I have a question for you guys...

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU GUYS WANNA DO BEFORE YOU "KICK THE BUCKET”?

Answer with a comment and I look forward to your answers

Dan =)

P.s. As i am trapped at home because of my leg, i haven't got any interesting photos to show you... INSTEAD, i have a photo of me lying in the middle of a store, and me as a rabbit... Enjoy i guess.

Broken Bone Is A Bitch :(

Wuh oh, Ma leg is broken...
Really broken...

Check it --->

So i know this isn't the most ideal thing to happen to any human being, but surprisingly enough it WAS on my bucketlist...

Now I’m not saying that if i was 40 and hadn't broken a bone yet, i was going to go out and break it 'just cause.' This particular item on my bucket list i didn't care if i didn't achieve...

BUT HEY! i did it anyway.

I broke my leg on the 3rd of August, and a month and a week later, im feeling great.
I can walk around on a walking stick now and it doesn't hurt that much anymore.
But, this is how it happened...

I was playing basketball with the trusty and talented team NADS. (This is the team me and my mates made up... "GO NADS!")
I jumped up for a rebound near the end of the game and when i landed; I felt a large shift in weight in my leg and heard a loud, really fuckin loud, crack. I fell to the ground and felt that about 3 inches above my ankle there was a gap where my shin bone should be. Not the best feeling in the world.
It took 40 minutes for the ambulance to come and in that time i was cracking jokes to my mates. OH, and bitching about the pain every now and then. By the time the ambo's got there i was apparently as white as a ghost. I was still cracking jokes and basically swore at them to drug me up so i can sleep :)

When i woke up, i was in the ambulance and i overheard the ambo's talking about my leg. Apparently i had broke both the bones in my left shin clean in half, and one of the bones had stabbed through the skin above the ankle.

Beautiful....

How the surgeons fixed my broken leg was to slice a MASSIVE cut in my knee, cut the top of my shin bone open, get a massive titanium rod and gently HAMMER IT INTO THE BONE all the way to the ankle. Then, screw it into the bone with 4 large screws.

I am now part Robotic. =)

I just wanna say thanks to everyone that has helped mwa through the whole bloody fun thing... the people that kept me entertained when it happened were great, the nurses were great (especially that perky Black haired one...god dam =) ) The doctors that did the surgery were bastards, but they did a damn good job on the leg.

Although i cant walk/run for a LONG time, i still have to say this bone break has made me happier then i have ever been.
Bloody weird or what?
I can’t explain it, I guess it gives me some character. Through bad times people grow values and personality.

Cheers, Dan =)

Bucket List: Stay The Night In A Haunted House

Arrrrr, Staying the night in a haunted house.
Everyone has read books on it and the population is split right down the middle of people that never EVER want to go near the scenario, and people wanting to do it, badly.
I am the latter of those two.

It is on my bucket list as I have always been fascinated about the creepy shit in this world, and I thought this would be the best way in seeing the Para-freaky.

My mates Ben, Andrew and I stayed in an abandoned water treatment plant on the outskirts of my city. It had been rumored to be haunted and when we saw the place, it was definitely a creepy hunk of shit.
What used to be a 2 story well built structure, had crumbled into a destroyed 1 ½ story war zone. I say 1 ½ because there was now no roof on the second level.
There was an amazing amount of satanic graffiti along the walls and even dead animals under the staircase… No lie.

I had decided to go to this haunted house for my media assignment. I was going to make a documentary on Ghosts and if they are real.
So we had some camera’s there to record anything Para-weird.

During the night sadly, bugger all happened. We even got bored at one point so we went for a walk around the country-side.
Only one thing actually creepy happened to us. It happened to Ben and I when we were eating some chocolate cake we bought for the night (Fuck yes!)
While we were eating the cake, we heard someone RUN UP THE STAIRS of the building.
Now, we were only 3 meters away from the stairs and we both heard it at the same time. We walked around the building a few times to see if we could find anything but we couldn’t. We were both confused about it but it soon left our minds.

The morning came and we hadn’t seen anything. Although we heard someone running down the stairs, we had no footage of it. So my documentary I made was really, really, really boring.

Because this house wasn’t as haunted as I would like, I want to do this again sometime.
When I find a better haunted house that people actually lose their sanity when they walk in, that is when I will do it again.

Bucket List: Attend The Australian Open

Now, as I used to be heavily into tennis I thought I would put down attending the Aus Open in my bucket list. (That and Wimbledon.) I know it is considered a boring sport to watch, but I think the atmosphere of the Australian open would be amazing.

And I was right.

I attended the Aus open this year with my Mother, my Nan and my Nan’s Hubbie named Ben. And my good mate Jacob.
Now the elderly folk went off and did their own thing every day, so that left me and Jacob to do whatever we wanted for a whole week. Bloody Gold.

The Australian open was fantastic! Like I predicted, there was an amazing atmosphere when we entered Melbourne Park. The outrageous frenchies were hilarious to watch and listen to. And hell, Jacob and I were going for the French players (Gael Monfils, Richard Gasguet) so we started screaming in French too. Don’t know what the frick we were saying, but hey it sounded good. We even got on T.V for cheering like retards on Monfils’ match.
Also, the patriotic Aussie’s were great to be around. Most of them were drunk and all of them were screaming as loud as they could. All wearing green and gold capes and sombreros and passing out in-between courts. They are doing Australia proud that’s for damn sure.

We went to 3 full days of tennis. We saw Hewwitt, S.Williams, Roddick, Tsonga, federer, nadal, a player that reminded us of a Gazelle. All the classics.

The Australian Open was so good, and Jacob and I plan on going again next year with some more mates.

Attending the aus open, Check.

Bucket List: Step Foot In Europe

Yes. As clichéd as it is, I have setting foot in all the continents on my bucket list.

I set foot in Europe on the 29th of September, 2004. I was aged 12 and I was far too young to realize how amazing the trip really was.

I started in the fantastic city of Rome, Italy and I was with my Father and my Sister. We saw the bloody massive colosseum, the amazing sculptures and crystal clear water of the Trevi Fountain. But my favourite, were the beggers. I don’t remember much of the entire trip but I do remember my Dad being physically abused for some spare change by an elderly lady.
Now I don’t know about you guys, but a frail, filthy and old lady trying to pick a fight with a tall, muscular man is bloody funny.

The highlights of Italy were definitely the colosseum, the leaning tower of Pisa, and Pompeii.
Pompeii was AMAZING. If you don’t know what Pompeii is then please check here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii
Pompeii was just so ghostly. I remember walking down the main street of Pompeii with the grooves in the road of the horse carts. And the large but empty houses and shops. It was amazing to see a city that was over 1700 years old and, although abandoned, in-tact. One of the other amazing things about Pompeii was the frozen-in-time bodies that were there. The bodies were obviously in pain when they were frozen by the pyroclastic flows from the volcano. It was just amazing to see them.
I recommend Pompeii to ANYONE.

Well, although I made the Bucket List in 2008, I completed the first one in 2004.

One down, a shit load to go.

The Background

So this is me.
My name is Daniel and i am 17 going on 18 in a few months.
I am in my final year of school and loving it.
I live down under in the great land of "Austraya."
I play and live basketball and currently am in 3 teams.
I have a lot of mates that are hilarious.

I have a brilliant family that is supporting and all that jazz.
I love dance music and my favorite artist is Deadmau5.

My mates and I make films for fun; we have our own film company called Boil My Kettle! Productions (BMK! for short). Check us out at:http://www.youtube.com/user/BoilMyKettle

But these are all clichés

Mid-way through last year I starting feeling depressed. Now this was unusual as I had a fine life and I was always happy with what I was doing.
I realized that I wasn't depressed, I just felt empty.
I had nothing to strive for or try to achieve. I wasn't motivated to finish school with A's; I wasn't motivated to find a career path.
So, as I am a proactive person who tries to fix my problems rather then complain about it pointlessly, I decided to give my life a few goals or so.

I wrote up a Bucket List.

And now I’m going to complete my bucketlist, and I’m going to post my adventures along the way.
Hopefully I will get some readers to point out my flaws and give me some advice. And I am a VERY friendly person who enjoys the company of strangers as much as mates so please email me.

I don’t know whether I will post my actual bucket list up here, we will see. So far it has 175 items to complete.

I have done some of the bucket list already as I made it a while back, I will have one post per completed item on the list.

I look forward to hearing from you and remember: Always, ALWAYS keep living life.

Dan.

P.s, here is a shot of me on-set of one of BMK!'s films, "Unofficial bag raiders - fun punch music video"
